A Rare Mid 19th Century Swedish Folk Art Carved Polychrome Triangular
Once popular throughout Scandinavia triangular shelves are rooted in mythology, during the 19th Century they became popular in through Europe into Germany, Switzerland and Romania.
This particular wall shelf is Swedish. Deep rusty red and green paint over swirly hand carved edges. The contents are for display but do however show the versatility of this particular shelf.
This particular example was purchased in Mora in the Dalarna province, an area of Sweden renowned for clock making and wood carving.
