An C18th Walnut Chair, In The Manner Of Giles Grendey
There are many factors suggesting this chair may come from the workshp of Giles Grendey although there are no evident makers marks. Certainly the design is in the manner of Grendey. Of wide horseshoe seating, this chair is superbly carved and covered in a faded pale blue embroidered silk cloth. Scroll terminations to arms, beautifully figured splat, historic repair to moulding, metal bracket repairs to the arms and spliced leg repair and retipped to back. Ball and claw feet. Shell design terminations to cabriolet legs. A very impressive chair with an absolutely fabulous splat. A fabulous addition whether as a period chair or indeed as the sculptural chair you see or as a functional and very usable piece of furniture.
