19thC Portraits in oil Identified As President Abraham Lincoln And Mrs Lincoln
A pair of portraits in oil on canvas. The gesso frames are similar in style although the intricate lacework to the lady’s portrait is exceptional whilst the gentleman’s portrait has cherubs all aroubd it. I have been unable at this stage to attribute them. Identified as Abraham Lincoln and Mary Todd Lincoln by both the seller and a well known Auction House. An exceptional pair of decorative oils on the market for the first time in decades.
The frames are slightly different not only in style but also size, the gentleman’s frame has very minor cracking. The paintings have historically had some restoration.
Of historic importance.
